What is MovieLocker?

It is a video hosting which gives unique opportunities.

What is unique about MovieLocker?

• No video limits. Any length, any definition, any bitrate.
• Total copyright control. All videos are protected by DRM, which means that a video can be viewed but can’t be copied. Video can be watched as long as you allow it. Publisher can prohibit viewing even if the video has been already downloaded to a computer.
• Geographical restriction. It’s possible to choose one or several countries where the playback would be prohibited.
• Integrated shopping card.

Do I have to pay for using MovieLocker?

The amount you pay depends on the type of your account. For details, please, see Accont section on Help page.

If you rent out your video MovieLocker charges commission only once someone has paid a rental fee. You don’t pay if you don’t earn.

Can I place any video on MovieLocker?

No. You can only upload videos that don’t violate any law or infringe any copyright.

Is Apple Mac supported?

Yes. Mac is fully supported.

Do I have to register?

You have to register for publishing videos. You don’t have to for watching videos.

How do I register?

First, click "Sign Up" link on the main page. Then fill in the form. You’ll get an e-mail with a confirmation link.

I’ve filled in a form but did’t get a confirmation e-mail. What should I do?

Check your spam folder.

If you didn't receive an e-mail, non-activated account will be deleted in 24 hours. Then you can try again.

What types of account can I choose from?

There are three types of accounts for MovieLocker users: Free, Freemium and Premium. Your choice depends on your own preferences and expectations.

Free account

This type is perfect for beginners.

• No monthly fee.
• Upload up to 5 videos.
• Number of free views - 1000 per month.
• Number of paid and donated views - unlimited.
• Videos are stored for 60 days since the last playback.
• An account remains active for 60 days since the last video has been removed.

Freemium account

This type is suitable for advanced video makers.

• Monthly fee is $99.
• Upload up to 99 videos.
• Number of free views - 5000 per month.
• Number of paid and donated views - unlimited.
• Videos are stored as you pay. In case of non-payment all videos are blocked for 60 days and then removed if the payment fails. The account is switched to Free automatically.
• Videos are kept while the account is active.

Premium account

This type is for large companies. It is useful for archive storage.

• Monthly is $499.
• Unlimited number of videos.
• Number of free views – 10000.
• Number of paid and donated views - unlimited.
• In case of non-payment all videos are blocked for 60 days and then removed if the payment fails. The account is switched to Free automatically.
• The statistics is exported in MS Excel format.

Switching between account types

You can switch between account types at any time by using an option on My account page. If you switch to a paid account, you will have to make a payment immediately so that your files wouldn’t be blocked.

How do I cancel my account?

You delete all your videos. In two months your account will be cancelled automatically.

What file formats are supported?

Only Windows Media Video files at this time.

How can I encode files into WMV?

For Windows it’s better to use Microsoft encoders. Other sortware can make incompatible files which won't be uploaded. Save your time.

For Mac it's better use Episod by Telestream. Make sure you use CBR only. VBR is not supported at this time.

What is Silverlight?

Silverlight is a Microsoft technology which is necessary for MovieLocker to work properly. Use the invitation and set up a plug in, it will take a few minutes.

Adding video

To add a video click “upload” in the main menu. In the newly opened window first fill in boxes, then choose the file you want to upload from your computer. The uploader has the resume capabilities. When uploading is complete, the video will appear in the list. It is now available to be downloaded and viewed.

Warning! Make sure you mark the checkbox “18+” if you upload an adult video. Failure to do so is a serious violation of the Terms of use, which will lead to termination of you account.

Managing videos

In the My Videos section of your account you find a list of all your videos. To the right of each video in the list you will find four icons that enable you to manage videos.

General settings

Here you can manage video information.

Using ON/OFF switch you can temporarily lock your video so that it won’t be seen. Later you can unlock it again.

Set Price

You can set the viewing mode: free, pay-per-view or donation. Free is the default option. If you set the free mode, the number of views is limited. It depends on the type if your account. For details, please, see Account section on Help page.

If the Fixed Price option is chosen, user will have to pay for viewing. Set price in USD and rent period. Remember, Movielocker charges commission of 20% of the price but no less than 50 cents. User must pay by PayPal. Once a payment is received, a viewer can view the video an unlimited number of times during the set rent period.

If the Donation option is chosen, users decide themselves whether to pay for viewing or not. They have to enter a price and pay using PayPal, but the user can view the video for free.

Geographical restriction

You can prohibit viewing your video in selected countries. Choose regions and/or countries where you want viewing to be restricted. By default there are no restrictions.

Delete

Publisher can delete the video forever. The video will be deleted from our server and you will have to upload it again if you decide to reinstate it later.

Can I embed the player into my site?

Sure. To do so enter the My Videos section in publisher menu. There’s a HTML code for each video for embedding it into a blog or site.

The playback is often interrupted by permanent buffering. What is wrong?

Your internet connection is not fast enough. You can save the video to your computer and then watch it without any trouble.

Watching the video requires a payment. What should I do?

If the video is to be paid for, you can pay via PayPal. After you have paid you can watch the video without limit during the rent period set by the publisher.

Warning: you can watch the paid video only on the computer that you have used to make a payment.

Donation request appears several times during the playback. How can I stop it?

Make a donation. After that video will play without banners on that computer.

Or watch it like that.

Do I have to be online to watch the video which I have downloaded?

Yes. But the connection speed doesn’t matter. Low speed is enough.

How do I download the video?

Open the player and click the bottom left button

Then click DOWNLOAD VIDEO.

What software should I use for playback?

You can only use the player provided by MovieLocker. It is free to download.

Then click INSTALL OFFLINE PLAYER.

If the Pay-per-view or Donation mode is set and users pay for viewing, all payments can be seen in the My Payments section of the menu. There you can see who has watched your videos, how many times, and how much you have earned.

User can withdraw money at any time via PayPal. Do to so you’ll have to enter your account and click the button on the right. This is the only possible way of withdrawing money.

Warning! Money is transferred to your PayPal account. Your e-mail at Movielocker must be the same as the one registered with PayPal. You should create a PayPal account in advance. Otherwise we won’t be able to transfer anything.

No other means of transfer are possible.
